Swell by Ripple Singapore
Brand concept + logo
Client: Swell by ripple singapore
Swell is Ripple’s (Ripple is a cryptocurrency payments provider) global payments conference, which takes place in a different location each year. In 2019, Swell by Ripple brought together over 500 of the world’s most influential people in financial services, payments, technology, and policy.
The annual financial technology conference with state-of-the-art event design, was held on Sentosa Island at Capella Resort in Singapore in 2019, providing attendees with an exceptional architectural and digital experience.
The goal of the event was to reflect Ripple’s motto: making the world a better place. The architecturally excellent resort showcased Ripple’s elegant payment system, which heralds the new age of global payments, through modern and customized event technology and design. Furthermore, success stories and benefits were told by the customer’s customer (end user) using digital concepts and the venue was presented as a worry-free zone in an era of worry-free money transfer.
The Swell by Ripple Logo
Simple, impressive and unexcited
Attendees were given a relaxed feeling in the midst of a highly technical and digital environment, just as Ripple in payments gives its customers a secure but cutting-edge feeling. The complexity of the subject matter is palpable, yet the Experience is simple, impressive and unexciting.
Creative expression was realized through kaleidoscopic patterns and experimental interactions. The Swell by Ripple logo – geometric, angular and symbolizing transformation – appeared in various environments throughout the venue to elegantly mark and define the conference spaces. Window and stairwell graphics, wayfinding signage, a freestanding anamorphic sign, and gallery spaces for meetings and conversations displayed a tessellation pattern of the logo.
Living Wall
Greeting
When guests arrived on site, they were first greeted by a “Living Wall” with the Swell by Ripple logo. In the lobby, attendees saw an installation of block letters that read HELLO from one side and SWELL from another. The custom registration desk continued the tessellation design, with a glow of built-in LEDs to give the entry experience a glamorous, techy feel. Around the large meeting room was a large infographic wall showing the diverse network of more than 300 financial institutions around the world that make up RippleNet. Kiosks with customer stories and demo stations for the Ripple team to connect with customers and prospects were scattered throughout.
A life-size, walk-through kaleidoscope challenged attendees to explore their unique point of view from every angle. The creative execution culminated in two eye-catching custom origami curtains as the backdrop for the General Session.
Over 6,000 hand-folded white origami in the shape of the Swell logo hung from ceiling to floor on 145 strings that framed the main stage. The strings were intentionally left loose so the origami could easily spin and sway in the air currents of the room. The white paper provided a canvas for lighting to change the appearance of the origami in accordance with the stage content.
